I’ve been going through my personal photos lately, and decided to whip up a blog post and share some of them. Mostly my gang. Over the last few months. Enjoy the little peek into my life
As some of you may know, the Small family has been expecting. Our little girl was due on the 22nd of September, and per usual…she showed up right on time (just lik eher brother). Amry weighed 8 lbs 3 oz. and was born at 5:34 pm, after a fast and furious 6 hour birth. (hopefully someday here ill post some candid [don't worry, not scary] shots of the day, and her, right after she was born, but for now, i wanted to post a few of lately.
This was a fun little impromptu thing we did one evening. I was 37 weeks.
Anddddd…what kind of a photographer would i be, if i didn’t post a ‘before and after’?? (Also the top i was 38 weeks)
And one of her ‘official’ one week old photos.
Since today was both, i decided to try out a little technique that i read about in one of my fave books awhile back. Understanding Exposure. While i didn’t have a ton of time to be patient (kids climbing around my camera that was precariously draped over a bowl of water, on a tripod. PHEW!) I did get some fun shots!
What do you think? If this is something you are interested in learning how to do (its quite simple with a few particular steps!) Leave a comment and let me know, and i will do a blog post tutorial on how you can capture some shots like this. Never know, it might be something fun, for your next Rainy day, or, Monday!? (;
Well, its March. That time of year, when, my taxes are done. I’m caught up from the year before in my editing. I’ve had a break. A nice little break. Now, I’m ready to GET BACK TO WORK. I’ve had some things going here and there, but mother nature just isn’t co-operating quite enough for me to be full fledged busy. So, i recently decided to volunteer my time and services to our local animal shelter, the Coastal Humane Society. I know how important and crutial it is for animals waiting to be adopted to have quality photos. LOTS of people look online to find the animal they might call their own, and just like with people, a photo can make you look amazing, and showcase your true personality, orrrrr…not so much. It was perfect timing. Shortly after I emailed them, they told me they were expecting in 10 or so dogs and puppies from a shelter down south. The dogs had been on death row, due to shelter crowding. I could tell they were just so excited to get these dogs, and equally excited to have me there to document it. I too, could hardly wait. Here are some photos I got that day, of the dogs arrival, their bath…and settling in to their new (short term) life at the shelter. I was just amazed at how sweet and happy they were through the whole process. ugh. love.
If you are interested in adopting one of these adorable pups, or want more info on volunteering you can visit the Coastal Humane Society. Just click on adopt to see all their sweet animals up for adoption.
Took a few ‘one year shots’ of my nephew Alec a few weeks back. Well. Technically, ‘One year- and 5 month shots’. Here are a few that I liked…

*sigh* My little girl turned a year old on the 23rd. It’s CRAZY!!! They aren’t supposed to grow up so fast! Lucky for this family- Mama is a photographer, and can do fun impromptu shoot’s at their milestones!
So, One thing on my ‘list of things to do’ is become a better blogger. And I’ve decided maybe, for me, that means just doing smaller posts. (read between the lines: smaller MORE FREQUENT posts
I also plan on re-vamping my template sometime soon here. I think this one looks a little too amateur-ish?!
Anyway, on to my pictures. These pictures are from a few weeks ago. J, the kids and I went to our good friends the York’s for a little visit. I managed to catch these two shots. I wish I could have moved Halle’s hair out of her face a bit so I could see more of that gorgeous smile, BUT I Know that might have ruined the moment. So I took what I could get. I love Nolan’s expressions in these two pictures, and that’s part of the reason I chose these two. cute. ness.
Oh yes, One more thing…I’m trying to get back in the habit of watermarking. This is the best I can come up with so far, in Lightroom. (Hopefully getting Photoshop REAL soon, and I’ll be able to make something a bit fancier) but for now, which do you prefer??? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
