Phew. never fails. Its about this time of year that im elbow deep in sessions to edit, and between staying at home with my two guys during the day and working half the night, my blogging starts to suffer. So, im going to try to start back at the next session i have to blog, which is actually about 20 sessions ago! LOL jeepers. Anyway, i LOVE LOVE LOVED this session. It was to die for. their outfits, our locations, the light, oh and the ADORABLE little miss? I’m one lucky photographer. Enjoy!
Love this session? Don’t forget to pin it! I always appreciate pins
There are two ‘looks’ that I really adore for photo sessions, and in general really. One, is bright, colorful, patterns, and the other is a more subtle vintage inspired look. Todays wardrobe inspiration is definitely more the latter.
As much as I adore both of these styles, they do tend to lend themselves to certain locations, more than the other. For example, bright colorful patterns work great with a urban setting, so maybe if its a city shoot, or, something else a little more unconventional and modern, that would be ideal. Whereas if we were shooting in a field with hay bails, or an apple orchard, a more vintage-y look would flow better!
Here are a few examples of a vintage inspired wardrobe!

Hey there. Its late, and hotter than a mother here in Maine, but I’ve really REALLY been wanting to share this shoot i did a month or so ago. Elizabeth and her lovely family, are expecting another peanut. We had been talking since before she found out she was pregnant (long before actually) about doing this shoot. This was they’re third shoot with me this year, and i cannot wait to photograph the birth of her sweet new addition, and watch their family grow through the years. Elizabeth and i have grown to become good friends, through our meeting from sessions. I am so fortunate to meet such wonderful people doing what i love. I could not be grateful enough. Well, without further ado…here is their ‘pregnancy announcement’ shoot.

Yep. I decided to do it. I’m almost at the 1000 fan mark (one away i believe) so what better time to CELEBRATE and say THANK YOU to all my wonderful clients!?

I’m gearing up for a few sessions in the coming weeks, and while im sending my new session guides off to be printed, i got to thinking about the age old question that walks hand in hand with a photoshoot….’BUT WHAT DO I WEAR!?’ Ladies, fret not (woah, that was a bit Dr. Suessish. Forgive me, its past my bed time) Ive got some great wardrobe inspiration headed your way.
Just doing an engagement shoot? Just take a way the little’s outfits, and you’re still lookin’ cute! OR, just use the color palate as inspiration! Stay tuned, i’ve got more coming! (:
Since today was both, i decided to try out a little technique that i read about in one of my fave books awhile back. Understanding Exposure. While i didn’t have a ton of time to be patient (kids climbing around my camera that was precariously draped over a bowl of water, on a tripod. PHEW!) I did get some fun shots!
What do you think? If this is something you are interested in learning how to do (its quite simple with a few particular steps!) Leave a comment and let me know, and i will do a blog post tutorial on how you can capture some shots like this. Never know, it might be something fun, for your next Rainy day, or, Monday!? (;
Well, its March. That time of year, when, my taxes are done. I’m caught up from the year before in my editing. I’ve had a break. A nice little break. Now, I’m ready to GET BACK TO WORK. I’ve had some things going here and there, but mother nature just isn’t co-operating quite enough for me to be full fledged busy. So, i recently decided to volunteer my time and services to our local animal shelter, the Coastal Humane Society. I know how important and crutial it is for animals waiting to be adopted to have quality photos. LOTS of people look online to find the animal they might call their own, and just like with people, a photo can make you look amazing, and showcase your true personality, orrrrr…not so much. It was perfect timing. Shortly after I emailed them, they told me they were expecting in 10 or so dogs and puppies from a shelter down south. The dogs had been on death row, due to shelter crowding. I could tell they were just so excited to get these dogs, and equally excited to have me there to document it. I too, could hardly wait. Here are some photos I got that day, of the dogs arrival, their bath…and settling in to their new (short term) life at the shelter. I was just amazed at how sweet and happy they were through the whole process. ugh. love.
If you are interested in adopting one of these adorable pups, or want more info on volunteering you can visit the Coastal Humane Society. Just click on adopt to see all their sweet animals up for adoption.
You are about to meet the lovely Weston Family. I first met Alexis and her son Ronin last spring. They were actually my first OpLove clients, and when we met, she was pregnant with the cute little miss Clause you are about to meet, and her husband Brenden was deployed overseas. I was SO excited when Alexis contacted me saying she and the WHOLE FAMIY were back in Maine and wanted to do a shoot! Here are a few of my faves. If you’d like to see our OpLove shoot from last spring, click here. For more information on Op Love Sessions click here. Enjoy!
Here is the sneak peek i just threw up on Facebook, of the lovely miss katherine and her family! We did our shoot on Bradbury Mountain last sunday, when it was SOOO BEAUTIFUL. I can’t remember the last time it looked this beautiful at the top!
